Castles & Dragons

June 15, 2017 - Driving through Wales today we tour several castles and honestly, the names have gotten mixed up in my head so I won't pretend to try to sort them out. The first one there were these fantastic animated dragons. I have been following them online and the mom and dad dragon had two babies hatch from eggs. It is a traveling exhibit through Wales and we were lucky enough to catch mom and babies today but dad has traveled to another castle.

This castle is no longer a working castle but the ruins are still sturdy enough for us to walk through. the moat is still intact and filled with water and a few water plants. On display is a sort of cooking device that is a wheel laying on its side, a fish being cooked in the middle, and on the outer edges are candles and magnifying glasses trained onto the meat to be cooked. Really quite clever! Exploring on our own inside turrets and through various rooms is quite fun under a beautiful sunny sky. Of course, we had some fun posing in the chair with the handcuffs on each arm. Scary stuff!

The countryside is beautiful! I cannot describe the many hues of green I see each day. I love looking at the various mosses growing on the walls of castles, rock walls, and just about anywhere a plant can get a hold. The moisture here allows these any ferns and mosses to thrive but right now we are experiencing sunny days and I am happy for that!

We cross over a river to another castle via a long bridge with two ways of getting across the river here at the same place. You can also take the single span bridge or go under it in the "tube." We are tired and head to the Hilton tonight to rest our head, We find a great restaurant and I enjoy fried goat cheese and a prawn dish. My eyes will close immediately upon hitting the pillow tonight as I dream of medieval times, knights, and castles!
